EWASCO has three main water sources:

Kapingazi water intake works
Rupingazi water intake works
Thuci intake works for the Kanyuambora supply
The Company relies on gravitational flow for water distribution. Since inception, the company has increased water supply capacity from 2,000 m3 per day in 2005 to 30,000 m3 per day in 2021.
In normal circumstances, Mukangu treatment works operates at design capacity of about 28,000 m3 per day while the Kanyuambora treatment works supply about 1,500 m3 per day (14% of the design capacity of 11,000 m3 per day).
In terms of the number of water connections, there has been tremendous increase from 4,000 in 2006 to about 37,000 in April 2021. The Company serves industrial, institutional and domestic users. Sewer connection, which are mainly within Embu town, have increased from 1,200 in 2006 to about 3,400 in April 2021. In September 2020, the company completed the second sewer treatment and this is expected to give rise to the number of sewer connections.
